Jack’s of Fiji will soon decide the fate of more than 185 staff that are currently without work after a major fire destroyed Jack’s of Fiji’s garment factory at Baker Lane in Nadi Town yesterday.

General Manager Avinesh Prasad says they have lost millions of dollars of garment and equipment.

More than 140 staff were inside the factory when the fire started.

Prasad says the staff had seen smoke coming out from the bulk.

Prasad says the executives will be meeting later today to work out the extent of damage.

He says they are now trying to contact their customers as they will not be able to supply them their stock.

Jack’s of Fiji’s exports are also expected to be affected.

The fire had spread to the Jack’s of Fiji quarters but the flames were quickly controlled by firefighters.

The quarters have been partially damaged.

Meanwhile, Police say six employees received treatment for smoke inhalation.

All employees were evacuated safely.
