Overtime pay has now been extended to those non-teacher civil servants earning between $22,528.74 to $36,103.75 as part of the ongoing civil service reforms being undertaken by Government.

These are the civil servants who fall under the Pay Band F.

Attorney‑General and Minister of Civil Service, Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum has announced that all officers on Pay Band F are eligible for overtime pay as of the 18th of this month.

Overtime back pay will also be honored for all of Fiji's essential health workers on Band F, starting from the time they began work under their new contracts.

Sayed-Khaiyum says this expansion of overtime pay is another positive outcome of the Government’s ongoing civil service reforms, and it is yet another way that, through bold and thoughtful change, the government has made the civil service a more attractive, merit‑based career path that competes with the private sector to attract and retain top talent

He also thanked the many essential workers in the healthcare space, who put in extra hours without knowing this announcement was coming.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the back pay they will receive is recognition of their hard work and dedication.

Previously, overtime compensation was only made available to nurses on Band F and other non‑teacher civil servants on pay Band E.

Sayed-Khaiyum says this new and more inclusive policy is a part of the Civil Service Reform Management Unit’s extensive review of the terms and conditions of civil servants’ work to create a more equitable workplace where extra hours and work are properly compensated.
