The Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Chen Bunn Young stressed that the 2014 general election was conducted in a free and fair manner.

While speaking in a press conference in the last hour, Young said that there are no particulars of evidence provided by any of the parties and they have only made some allegations in a joint statement without any evidence.

Young has also made it clear that the Electoral Commission also observed the process.

Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem also raised concerns about the media saying that counting had stopped yesterday.

Fijivillage would like to stress that we continued to say yesterday that the count was still ongoing as our reporters could see the counting process underway at the Vodafone Arena.

Saneem also said no one can just come in, make allegations and derail the electoral process.

The final results are being released by polling stations.

We are updating them on our website, fijivillage.com and we will bring you the final National Results Tally when the full results are in.

According to the provisional results the FijiFirst has 239,261 votes.

This is 60.13 percent of the total votes counted.

The Social Democratic Liberal Party is in second place according to the total party votes so far.

SODELPA has 106, 406 votes.

This is 26.74 percent of the total votes counted.

The third party which is just over 5 percent at the moment is the National Federation Party.

NFP has 22,446 votes.

Based on voter turnouts on international standards, FijiFirst has already achieved an absolute majority if the voter turnout for this election is 75 percent.

An absolute majority of 221,661 votes would be needed by a party if there is 75 percent voter turnout.

The FijiFirst has already surpassed this figure and currently has 239,261 votes.

This means that the FijiFirst will form the next government on its own while the opposition parties at this stage are projected to be SODELPA and NFP based on the provisional results and if the current trend in results and percentages continue.
