Construction work on the 28‑storey luxury hotel and convention centre along Suva’s McGregor Road by WG International Real Estate Company Fiji Limited is still continuing with the company saying they have never received an order to stop work at the site from the Suva City Council.
There have been claims about the Suva City Council issuing an order to stop work at the site after claims about structural steel frames corroding at the building site and also the materials not being up to standard.
The company’s spokesperson, William Wu says these claims are all false as all the materials they are using have been certified by the authorities as well as the local company, Engineered Designs.

He says they have not received a notice with concerns about structural steel frames corroding at the building site.
Wu says they are cleaning and painting the structural steel frames at the bottom and because they have not done the same for the top it looks like the frames are corroding.
He stresses that they can’t keep cleaning and painting the structure as construction is continuing.
He adds that the only notice they received was from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism after concerns that the materials they were using were not up to standard.
Wu says this problem was resolved after necessary checks were made.
