Questions are being asked about the state of the MHCC carpark and the safety of the existing building.
Fijivillage has received information that MHCC has closed off their carpark and has put in additional props in the carpark to hold up the structure.
We have been told that this is a temporary safety measure while the building works continue at MHCC.
People are asking Carpenters Fiji Limited and local authorities to make public statements on the issue of the safety of MHCC as they are concerned about messages coming from some people working in the MHCC building. The messages they are getting is that the carpark is closed and about 20 props have been erected to hold up the floor.
Photos of the car park are also being circulated.

Fijivillage has contacted Carpenters Properties Limited Director Daniel Whippy and Local Government Minister Premila Kumar. We are awaiting their response on the issue.
Carpenters Properties Limited had confirmed on October 31st, that the cracks that were found at MHCC has no evidence of any structural cracking therefore it was safe.
That assurance came after concerns were raised about the visible cracks and water that poured out from the ceiling of the food court at MHCC.
Houng Lee Kaba Jacob Limited Director and Principal Engineer Brian Jacob had said at the time that Carpenters Properties has removed tiles that had popped up in two locations in the Department store on Level 2.
He says that no structural cracking was evident in the underlying structural slabs in these locations.
Jacob says that some older cracking in the nonstructural floor toppings and non load bearing walls was evident but this was not affecting elements.
