Police will come down hard on the night clubs and the liquor license holders who sell alcohol to drunkards and minors.

During the Talanoa Session in Suva this afternoon, Police Commissioner Ben Groenewald stressed that they will visit all night clubs and charge the night club owners if they are found guilty of contravening the Liquor Act.

Meanwhile, a resident of Caubati alleged that there is corruption at the Valelevu Police Station.

He said a person who is currently on bail first assaulted his daughter in November last year and the complaint was lodged at Totogo Police Station.

The man said his wife was also assaulted by the same man and he also tried to burn his car.

The Caubati resident said the Crime Prevention Community members and a soldier caught the man red handed.

Commissioner Groenewald said he will look into the matter.

The Caubati man also raised the issue on how the Police Officers conduct their investigations in relation to rape cases.

He said he was remanded for about 4 months and not treated well, and the alleged victim’s medical examination later confirmed that she was not raped.

Chief of Intelligence and Investigations ACP Henry Brown said they will wait for the file to be returned from court so that they can charge the alleged victim for giving false information.

ACP Brown said the man can also file the report in regards to the treatment he received while in custody.

The Chairman of the Delainavesi Community Post also made a public apology to the Police Commissioner in relation to the incident in Flagstaff where some men attacked Groenewald in the attempted robbery.

Jone Tovoleisuva said the men belonged to his community in Nadonumai and he wanted to apologize to the Commissioner.
