Close to 4,000 marijuana plants have been uprooted from a farm in Levuka, Yale and two people arrested as the drug raids continue on the island of Kadavu.

Chief Operations Officer ACP Rusiate Tudravu travelled to Kadavu this morning onboard a Police Boat with the Divisional Crime Officer Southern, two C.I.D officers, the Force Analyst and the Officer in Charge Maritime.

Two men believed to be involved in the cultivation of marijuana are under arrest and continue to be questioned at the Vunisea Police Station.

Twenty officers from the Police Special Response Unit were deployed last Saturday to assist officers on the island after they were attacked and threatened during the raid.

ACP Tudravu says he will be visiting the villages and speaking to respective Turaga ni Koro's and elders to reaffirm the Police’s commitment in working together and ensuring the protection of communities.

He says that they have received information that those who are involved in this trade have been a threat to their communities and they understand their reluctance to provide information because of their safety.

Another raid was conducted at Nukuvou, Nakasaleka and they have the suspected cultivator in custody following the seizure of more than 30 plants.
