South Pacific's largest radio broadcaster, Communications Fiji Limited celebrated 30 years of serving it's listeners last night.

CFL which is the parent company of Legend FM, FM96, Viti FM, Navtarang, Radio Sargam, PNG FM, Total Event Company and fijivillage.com started it’s operations on the 5th of July 1985 when it's first radio station known as Suva's FM96 went on air.

While speaking at the anniversary celebration, CFL Managing Director William Parkinson says it has been a special journey for the company to build a loyal relationship with it's listeners over the last 30 years.

Parkinson says they understand the media landscape internationally is changing dramatically and CFL is building skills within the team to take on the new challenges.

CFL also operates three radio stations in Papua New Guinea under it’s subsidiary PNG FM. Through the Total Event Company CFL has the premier event management company in both Fiji and Papua New Guinea. CFL also has shares in Paradise Cinemas which operates cinemas in PNG.

The Tebbutt Media Survey 2014 revealed that 85.1% of radio listeners surveyed listened to one of CFL’s five radio stations, FM96, Viti FM, Navtarang, Sargam and Legend FM over a seven day period.

Communications Fiji Limited has also recorded an audited after tax profit of $1.474 million for the financial year 31st December 2014. The company’s pre‑tax operational profit was up by 18.13% to $2.661 million.

This was driven by a record result from the CFL group’s Fiji operations of $1.368 million before tax compared to $960,048 in 2013.
