Bus companies have been told by Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum to strategise how to stay relevant with the changes being brought by technology.
Speaking at the Fiji Bus Operators Association Annual Convention at Novotel in Lami, Sayed-Khaiyum said that bus companies needed to understand their market with fifty percent of the population below the age of 27 and 70 percent below the age of 40.
Sayed-Khaiyum says are lot of changes are going to happen in the next few years.
He says the fact is more people have cars and they have to ensure that people that are driving to work in their cars get on a bus when they start making dedicated bus lanes.
Sayed-Khaiyum also talked about the e-ticketing system saying they have had some very strong words with Vodafone Fiji and hopefully some good changes will happen soon.
He says that under the CARE project after the cyclone they provided a 50 dollar e-ticketing top-up to all those affected.
