Booklets which will explain the untold truth of the lives of the forefathers of girimitiyas in Fiji are in the process of being written.
Speaking at the 139th Girmit Remembrance Day celebration, Minister for Local government Parveen Bala said that he does not know why some of the history about grimitiyas has not been told.
He said it was important to know the truth.
Bala also remembered the material contribution of the first girimitiyas is always important.
The girmitiyas first arrived in Fiji on the 14th of May 1879 on the boat Leonidas.
