FijiFirst Leader Voreqe Bainimarama took his Prime Minister’s oath this morning at State House.

He took the Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Due Execution of Office in front of President Jioji Konrote and it was sealed off with a smile and handshake with President Konrote followed by a round of applause from guests at State House.

The swearing in of Bainimarama was attended by FijiFirst candidates and government ministers as well as Speaker of Parliament Doctor Jiko Luveni, Chief Justice Anthony Gates, Former President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, RFMF Commander Viliame Naupoto, Corrections Commissioner Francis Kean, Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem, Electoral Commission Chairman and members of the diplomatic corp.

It was also attended by the Bainimarama family.

Bainimarama led FijiFirst to victory in the 2018 general elections after pulling in 167,732 votes.

FijiFirst won the 2018 general elections with 227,241 votes which is 50.02 percent of the total votes.

FijiFirst got 27 parliamentary seats and hold the majority in parliament.

Bainimarama says that he will have meetings over the next few days and then make a decision on his cabinet lineup. He also had a lot of people to thank.

Bainimarama also attributed the drop in the votes FijiFirst got in the 2018 General Elections to the bad weather last Wednesday.

The Prime Minister also did not mince his words when asked about what opposition political parties have said about the electoral process.

The first parliament session will also be held before the end of next week.
