The Al-Nusra Front rebels have placed their demand on the table for the release of the 45 Fijian Soldiers who are detained by the rebels in Syria.
Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Brigadier General Mosese Tikoitoga said the rebels have demanded three things in particular including the removal of their group name from the terrorist list.
Tikoitoga said the UN Headquarters has confirmed that a professional negotiation team from New York is now in Syria.
He added that the UN Headquarters has assured them that it will bring all its resources to bear to ensure the safe return of our soldiers.
Tikoitoga also said that the location of our soldiers is still undisclosed till today but the rebels have assured them that the soldiers are well looked after.
Meanwhile, Tikoitoga said over 30 families have visited the Vatuwaqa Crisis Centre to get moral support and also get a clear story on the capture of the soldiers.
Tikoitoga is calling on people to stop spreading false rumors on what is happening to the soldiers and what may happen to them.
He also said they are sending out a team to those that cannot visit the Center particularly the families in the outer islands.
