Police have laid charges against four people in relation to an incident where Police Commissioner, Ben Groenewald received superficial wounds while trying to stop a robbery at the Distill outlet in Flagstaff last Thursday.
Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Henry Brown has confirmed that out of the eight suspects taken into custody, evidence was only found against four while the other four have been released.
He says the four charged are in their early twenties while one is still on the run.
They will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today.
Meanwhile ACP Brown says the Police Commissioner makes the decision whether his security should be beefed up.
He says five masked men who were armed entered the Distill outlet in Flagstaff and threatened the staff on Thursday night.
ACP Brown adds Commissioner Groenewald who was at the scene stepped forward and said that he is the Commissioner of Police and asked the robbers to stop what they were doing.
He got injured in the process.
The robbers fled in a taxi.
