The parenthood assistance also caters for teenage mothers and does not mean that all teenagers will start getting pregnant just because they will get $1,000.
This was stressed by the Minister for Economy and Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum after a man raised his concerns on this assistance during the 2018‑2019 National Budget Roadshow at De Vos on the Park.

He says majority of the women that get pregnant in Fiji are adults.
