The Police Officer who interviewed Josua Colanaudolu in relation to the rape and murder case of the 14-year-old girl in Deuba in March last year, confirmed in the Suva court house today that Colanaudolu had confessed raping a 17-year-old girl on 16th November, 2012.
Simione Nakuna who was the interviewing officer on 23rd March last year, today read the caution interview of Colanaudolu.
Nakuna told High Court Judge, Justice Salesi Temo that Colanaudolu admitted raping the girl in 2012.
He told the court that Colanaudolu mentioned in his caution interview that he knew the girl and invited her to his home where they drank some beer and smoked marijuana.
The court was told that Colanaudolu admitted that he had sex with the girl.
Nakuna then told the court that Colanaudolu also stated that he had asked the girl to stay back and continue having sex with him, however the girl wanted to go back home.
Nakuna said that Colanaudolu also admitted in the caution interview that the girl then started crying and he slapped her.
The interviewing officer also stated that Colanaudolu admitted threatening her so that he can again have sex with her.
DPP lawyer Sujata Lodhia then asked Nakuna whether Colanaudolu was threatened or assaulted in any form during the caution interview.
Nakuna told the court that Colanaudolu was not assaulted nor threatened.
