“I go and beg the government for vehicles but I’m ashamed to see that our vehicles are not looked after.
Those were the comments of the Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho during the official handing over of 14 new vehicles that the Fiji Police Force has received from Asco Motors and Kia Motors under a three-year lease agreement.
While speaking to his senior officers at the Police Special Response Unit in Nasinu this morning, Qiliho stressed that accidents do happen but police officers that get into accidents through negligence will not be tolerated.
Qiliho then highlighted that recently one of the police vehicles went off the road and the initial report that came to him was that the road was slippery.
He says when he saw the accident pictures which also went viral on social media, he saw the road was dry and there was no loose gravel.
Qiliho is urging police officers to look after police vehicles.
The 14 new vehicles include a minibus, nine cars and four twin cabs.
The Fiji Police Force currently has 270 vehicles in operation.
