9 member delegation attends 3rd Joint Technical Working Group to Indonesia

Fiji has opportunities to better its social protection, child protection, services to people with disabilities, with bilateral cooperation.

This was stressed by Permanent Secretary for Women, Children and, Poverty Alleviation Dr. Josefa Koroivueta, in his welcoming remarks as he led a 9 member delegation to the 3rd Joint Technical Working Group to Indonesia.

The meeting between Fiji’s Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation and the 2 Indonesian Ministries, Women Empowerment and Child Protection and the Ministry of Social Affairs discussed areas of co‑operation for both countries and also work on how to improve social protection and alleviate poverty.

Koroivueta adds that Fiji has benefitted from a number of programmes with the Indonesian Government and there are challenges that are similar and are cross-cutting issues across nations such as climate change and the Fijian Delegations will learn the best practices and innovations that Indonesia has to offer.

The week‑long meeting is from the 11th – 15th of December.

In speaking to the Fiji Delegation, Head of Delegation for Ministry of Social Affairs Dr. Muman Nuryana says that the engagement with Fiji is important and will benefit both the countries to be better informed and will effectively contribute to the formation of policies and projects.

The 9 member delegation are expected to visit Centers of Excellence in Social Protection, Services for People with Disabilities, Women Shelters, Digital Platform for Cash Transfer, Disaster Preparedness at Community Levels and the Black Bamboo Nursery.
