Imported player for a tournament is not good for any aspect of the sports. If teams want to bring player from outside the county than it should be on contract to play for a season or more.
Just for tournament is not good. It doesn't improve or develop soccer in the country.

FIJI FACT 2010 Teams get crazzy by importing players from eleswhere, This will NOT help the standards of Soccer in FIJI. Playing for the weekend and going back to your respective country does not help level of soccer. It just shows how people wants to win the tournaments. Investing in your own players will take the team a very long way.BA is a good example and a good team. This does NOT mean BA has to win everytime.It is a game of sport Lose is also part to bear sometimes. Teams should learn a lesson from The likes of BA and not think as a revenge. good luck to ba for winning fiji fact. thy won coz thy were the better team on the day. as for imports ,teams from all over the world import players to play for clubs eg real madrid,man u , chelsea etc etc. kamal singh get out of the hole and think outside the square. its ok to import players so locals know wat to expact wen thy play overseas teams. jst look hekari united , they did it with imports.

Guy's, it 's not about who wins how many tournaments, it's about raising the standard of soccer to international level where Fiji can compete with the likes of Australia, New Zealand and teh rest of the world and not get thumped by more than several goals. Of course Local players have talents, who said they don't? what i am stressing is improving those talents, which will inturn enhance soccer standards in Fiji. Lets think outside the box for once people, imports DO NOT hurt.

Import Players It is high time now that FFA should step in forward to stop this imports to come and play for the tournaments. If the disricts wants imports in their teams than they must gievn the conditions that atleast they must appear in at least 3 to 5 league matches to qualify to represent districts in major tournaments. Imports... Imports do not hurt soccer standards but rather increases talents of local players. Local players who are not able to secure overseas contracts are exposed to the overseas styles of playing soccer right here at home and they learn techniques first hand.
This experience will give local players not only a chance to up their game but also bring improvement in player discipline which most of the local players lack. It will also increase the national soccer to a whole new level. Personally, I would rather see overseas players playing in Fiji than .....

Stop the Rot of Imports
I used to be an avid Lautoka and local soccer fan until self-indulgent district officials started importing overseas players in search of personal glory.
Apart from stealing food and glory out of the mouths of our local players what exactly do these players do for local soccer?
Will our local players ever get a chance to play in the sub-standard leagues these foreign players come from?
I think we should keep our local players and get replace the administrators at all levels.
