A family of five are counting themselves lucky after they were moved to another house just in time before their house was destroyed under a landslide last night.
Dalip Chand of Vunivivi squatter settlement in Nausori says the family he helped move include a the home owners of the house that was destroyed in the landslide and their 3 children.
Police are now on their way to the Settlement after being notified of the incident this morning.
The heavy downpour last night caused flash flooding in a number of areas.
Fijivillage received reports from Waidamudamu Settlement at 10 miles, where people says flood waters entered several homes in the area last night.
A resident has informed us that the flash floods also affected the livestock in the area, however he has reported the water levels have receded this morning.
We have also received reports that Naduru Road in Nausori is affected by flood waters as only heavy goods vehicles including buses are using the road.
A resident of Naduru Road has also confirmed that rain caused a few compounds in the area to be waterlogged.
Meanwhile parts of Nabua town were affected by flood waters during last night’s downpour as streets were submerged in flood waters which entered some of the shops.
Fiji Roads Authority Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore says they are urging the public to refrain from attempting to cross flooded roads, crossings and bridges.
