The new developments happening in Nausori will boost business confidence and economic growth for the town according to Special Administrator Nausori Town Council Napolini Masirewa.
Masirewa said the ground breaking ceremony for the new Nausori market and bus stand project indicates how the ball game has changed for the river side town of Nausori.
Masirewa said the new market upgrade will cater for a total of 1,285 vendors from the current 771 which will double over the next 5 years.
The size of the new market will be around 6,000 square meters which is an increase from the current 3,000 square meters.
Meanwhile, Dhup Nand Maharaj who has been selling vegetables at the Nausori market since 1960, said the vendors cannot wait for the new market.
Government has allocated $1.5 million for the development of the new market over the next two years.
This will supplement the town council’s contribution of $6 million to be borrowed from one of the banks.
