It is turning out to be a great Christmas for the villagers of Naibalebale, Viwa Island as the barge Vatulawa with their first ration of clean drinking water has arrived.

This confirmed villager Suliasi Waqalevu who said the villagers since Cyclone Evan were using sea water for their household needs, and the arrival of Vatulawa already has villagers lining up with containers of all sizes to collect their supply of water.

At the moment he adds Water Authority personnel are also filling up the 3 main water tanks in the village.

According to Waqalevu the 3 tanks is sufficient to last the village of around 200 people with 2 months supply of water.

Waqalevu added that however to ensure that all households have an adequate supply, rationing of water is also being done, with the current allocation is for households to collect water only 2 days in a week.

Meanwhile, food rations have also been dropped off today on the islands of Waya and Naviti
