In his 2012 Christmas Address to the nation the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau expressed how impressive the nation’s state of readiness was during the recent Tropical Cyclone Evan.
The President further highlighted the nations response to disaster began right from the issuing of advance cyclone alerts and warnings to the extent of individual preparations from securing their homes to moving into evacuation centres.
Moving past Tropical Cyclone Evan he added that whilst we are not 100 percent perfect the change in response however is admirable and strongly encouraged in preparing for a natural disaster.
The President further added that today as most focus on rehabilitation he extends his gratitude to the many who continue to help those affected re-build their lives.
