The National Youth Council is expected to register as an independent body by April.
According to its President Maciu Ratumaitavuki, this will depend after the Provincial Youth Forum and Youth Assembly of the Fiji Islands hold their AGM next month.
Ratumaitavuki said the two main bodies will review and finalize its constitution.
He added United Nation Development Program is funding the process as they want to move out from the Youth Department to become an independent body so that youth can voice their opinion.
Ratumaitavuki confirmed they have also submitted names to the Prime Minister's Office as they want to be part of the Constituent assembly.
The council has 32 members.
