A three percent pay rise has been announced for the staff of Fiji Ships and Heavy Industries Limited.

The Attorney General and Minister for Public Enterprises Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the three percent pay rise covers all FSHIL staff - those on both salaries and wages which come into effect next Tuesday.

Sayed-Kahiyum said FSHIL workers have not received a pay rise since 2005 and have been paid at a much lower rate than other Fiji Ports staff.

The Attorney General also announced that annual bonuses will be given to the more than 400 staff of all three Fiji Ports companies.

The staff at Fiji Ports Corporation Ltd (FPCL) will receive a total of $243,831.82, the staff at Ports Terminal Ltd (PTL) will receive a total of $140,987.34 and the staff of FSHIL will receive a total of $37,783.00.

The Minister said the bonuses are recognition of the role the staff has played in improving both the financial performance and productivity at Fiji Ports.
