“We will be competing with more than hundred schools and not only one or two rival schools.”

Those were the words of Navitalai Waiwalu the athletics coach for the Coca Cola Games boys division defending champions Marist Brothers High School as they prepare to defend their title this weekend.

Waiwalu said that there are no big names in the squad but they will be banking on their team spirit and strong bonding ahead of the games.

Some of the athletes who are expected to lead Marist campaign include Tafa Varea, Vilisoni Rarasea, Keasi Naidroka, Simon Lilicama and Simione Isimeli.

Meanwhile, Yasayasa Moala College from Lau received a major boost today after Digicel Fiji provided them with their new uniforms for the Coca Cola Games.

Head coach Iliesa Draunidalo said the sponsorship has lifted the morale of the athletes.

Draunidalo added they are fielding 12 athletes this year and they are aiming to win a gold medal for the people back in the island of Moala.

This year’s games will be the biggest ever with over 2,800 athletes from more than 160 schools taking part.

The Coca-Cola Games starts tomorrow at the ANZ Stadium.
