Overcrowding will no longer be an issue for the 162 students of Nagigi SDA Primary School in Savusavu with the opening of a new classroom block today.
Head Teacher, Atama Vunibola said in the past one classroom was shared by two classes while other classes would be held in the computer lab.
Vunibola said this is due to the increase in the school roll since 2010.
He said the two new classrooms will be used for classes one and two while the other room will be used for computer classes.
He added one of their old buildings will now be used for the basic TVET program for students in upper primary level.
The cost of the new classroom block is more than $30,000 which has ben funded by the Prime Minister’s Office.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama officially opened the new classroom block today.
Bainimarama also opened a new classroom block at the Vatuvonu SDA College in Savusavu this morning.
