Two people including a five-year-old girl lost their lives due to drowning in the last 48 hours.
A 5-year-old was found floating in a nearby creek about 100 meters away from her residence at Vunutukara Settlement, Koroboya on Thursday afternoon.
The girl went missing from home while her mother was feeding her daughter and was later discovered floating in a nearby creek.
Post mortem reveals that the 5-year-old died of drowning and investigations are still underway.
In another incident a 20-year-old woman was swept by strong currents in Wailoa River in Monasavu yesterday.
She was rushed to a nearest health Center where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The drowning death toll now stands at 67 compared to 38 last year.
