There is still hope amongst people in the sugar industry that the industry will have a brighter future in the coming years.
This is according to FSC chairman Abdul Khan, adding growers are asking for more dialogue with other stakeholders on what their needs are.
An outcome of this he said will help in the planting of more quality cane.
Khan added that the industry is hoping for more good news in today’s 2013 National Budget address.
Meanwhile, close to 200,000 people including growers and cane cutters are totally dependent on the industry.
