Fiji will carry its biggest International responsibility next year when it Chairs the G77 meeting.
G77 is the grouping of 132 developing nations including China.
This is the first time a country from the Pacific has been elected to Chair such a high profile meeting which will discuss issues like natural disasters and small Island developing States
The Chairmanship is circulated between Latin America, Africa and Asia Pacific.
Fiji’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Peter Thomson said this role will put Fiji right on the top amongst other developing countries.
Thomson added this will be one of the biggest responsibilities ever under taken by Fiji.
The handing over ceremony of the G77 Chairmanship will take place on the 15th of next month in New York where Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama will be present along with Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon.
