Toulon fly half Johnny Wilkinson will make a decision in February on whether to retire at the end of the season.
The former England number ten's contract expires in June, with the 33 year old debating whether to hang up his boots at the end of the current campaign or sign a one year extension.
Wilkinson has also been touted as a possible tourist with the Lions in Australia next June, 12 years on from when he starred on the 2001 tour.
Meanwhile, Ireland and Leinster centre Brian O’Driscoll is determined to tour with the British & Irish Lions for a fourth time and said it would be impossible to turn down the team's captaincy if he was approached by coach Warren Gatland.
