The family of the 22 year old mariner, Tevita Waqa who reportedly drowned in Galoa waters in Bua on Good Friday, will await the arrival of their father who works in Trinidad.
According to the mother of the deceased, Savaira Waqa, while funeral preparations are underway at their home in Vatuwaqa, the burial date is yet to be confirmed.
She said they also will have to await the arrival of her son's body from Labasa.
Police said the victim who was a crew member of a Government vessel which was berthed at Galoa Bay in Bua on Friday morning allegedly jumped off the ship for a swim after a drinking party.
A few minutes later some of the crew members noticed the victim waving for help around 50 metres away from the ship and while they managed to rescue him attempts to revive him though were unsuccessful.
He was rushed to the Lekutu Health Centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
