A minibus driver was arrested and taken to Namaka Police Station after he tried to offer a police officer $10 not to book him for a traffic offence yesterday.
The police were conducting traffic operations at Namaka when they noticed the driver stopping while going around the Votualevu roundabout.
The driver is being investigated and police are sending out a warning that unscrupulous acts will not be tolerated.
Meanwhile over the last 3 Days Easter Operation a total of 999 bookings were made.
Among these were 633 cases of speeding, 42 of driving without seatbelts, 32 for carrying excess passengers and two illegal operations.
12 arrests were also made while 12,491 vehicles were intercepted and 8,879 random breathalyser tests done.
With more movement anticipated as the Easter weekend continues the head of the Traffic Department is reminding motorists about police presence on our roads.
