The Fiji Fuel Retailers Association said it wants more police patrols near service stations following some well-organized robberies.
President Naseer Khan said the attackers use getaway vehicles and are often armed with cane knives, pinch bars and empty beer bottles and most act very quickly.
He said they understand there are many demands on the police and they are a shortage of resources but they urgently need greater security protection before someone gets hurt.
Khan said in one of the robberies in Suva the perpetrators delegated a gang member to time the crime.
He said the man stood with his watch to ensure they worked within the time limit set for the raid and it was all over in one minute.
Khan said his own service station in Nadi was recently subject to an attack where money was grabbed from the till by two men wearing masks and gloves.
He said with the assistance of the Nadi carrier operators, the police tracked them down where they were arrested.
He said the police did a good job.
Meanwhile, Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said she will comment later in relation to this matter.
