“The mark of any society or country regarding its maturity is determined in the manner in which they treat the minorities.”
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum made this comment while opening an IT Centre at the Lautoka School for the Disabled.
He said the Government has included special rights for the people with disabilities in the Constitution, so that they can also get involved in the mainstream society.
The Attorney General has also committed to the Lautoka School for the Disabled to provide an air conditioning system, radio with DVD players and cordless Mics to the IT Centre.
He said this equipment will be provided within two weeks.
Sayed-Khaiyum has also highlighted that the government has opened 20 telecentres in various schools and communities so that people can get free access to the internet.
He said 60,000 new users now have access to the internet.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General will officially open a new telecentre at the Andhra Sangam Primary School this hour.
