The Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has instructed all heads of government agencies to ensure that all necessary services and facilities are available to the public before and after the movement of Tropical Cyclone Evan.
With the continuity of the tropical cyclone on its current path, the Prime Minister met directly with Cabinet Ministers, permanent secretaries and other relevant agencies today reminding them to coordinate closely with each other.
Commodore Bainimarama highlighted that the initial damage assessment should be done as quick as possible so that early decisions can be made on relief efforts and restoration of Water and Electricity services should be top priority.
The PM was further briefed on areas concerning disaster management including deployment of the armed forces, contingency plans by the public utilities sector and the operations of health services across the country.
