Thieves targeted the Courts Homecentres outlet in Sigatoka last night when the whole of Fiji was facing the full brunt of tropical Cyclone Mick last night.
Sigatoka Police has confirmed that thieves stole items worth thousands of dollars.
In another incident, a supermarket in Lautoka was also broken into and thieves also stole cash and other items.
Police investigation continues.
A mother and housewife of Caubati said the scariest experience last night, was not really Tropical Cyclone Mick, but the thieves that she claims came out after the power blackout.
The woman, who declined to give her name, said she and her family were up nearly the whole night adding with the power blackout, the phone lines down, they could do nothing but watch.
While alot of people are today cleaning their compounds filled with debris, most say the hardest is not having water and electricity.
