A 29-year-old businessman of Nadi appeared in the Nasinu Magistrates Court for allegedly producing a false Fiji National University certificate.
Ritnesh Mishra is charged with one count of forgery following an investigation whereby he is alleged to have provided a Trade Test Certificate Class III to a technician of Waqadra, Nadi.
The matter was reported to Valelevu Police by the Director of the National Training Productivity Centre after he received an email from the New Zealand Qualification Authority for the verification of the Trade Test Certificate.
Upon checking it was discovered the certificate number was false and the technician had never sat for the exam at the Fiji National University.
Mishra was released on $500 bail with two sureties.
He has been told not to interfere with witnesses and not to reoffend.
Meanwhile, Police investigations continue into the alleged involvement of other parties in relation to this case.
