8 bus companies have been given notices to upgrade the standard of their buses within the next 24 months.
Land Transport Authority acting media liaison officer Alfred Wiliame confirmed some of the buses inspected have surpassed their life span of around 30 years.
He said since buses are required for daily usage, they undergo wear and tear.
Wiliame said if the buses are not ungraded within the timeframe then they may be stopped from providing services.
