A Tropical Cyclone to the West of Vanuatu and the active trough of low pressure in Fiji is causing periods of rain in the country which will cause flash flooding in low lying areas.
The Acting Director for Nadi Weather Office, Alipate Waqaicelua said the clouds associated with Tropical Cyclone Vania will cause heavy rain and thunderstorms at times over the Fiji group.
He said people can expect rain and thunderstorms over most places in the country this weekend as well.
However he said Tropical Cyclone Vania posed no direct threat to Fiji as it continues to move away from the group.
Tropical Cyclone Vania is located about 220 kilometres South South East of Port Vila and is slowly moving South-South West towards New Caledonia.
