The Methodist Church of Fiji has today said that it can look at how it can assist parents who may be attending church activities while their children are left alone.
There have been observations that on many occasions, while adults attend church services and other activities like evening meetings and after church grog sessions or other functions, their children are left on their own at home.
At times the children are left with others or some teenagers end up in the nightclubs while their parents are attending such activities.
With the growing cases of sexual assaults on children and police raising concerns about negligence, we have asked Methodist Church General Secretary Reverend Tevita Nawadra what the church is doing about these issues.
Reverend Nawadra said that parental responsibility is important.
But Reverend Nawadra said people who are attending these activities also need to consider the time they spend there.
Reverend Nawadra said that the increase in the sexual assaults in the country is a major concern and they are looking at the social causes.
