Supermarkets or shops selling banned firecrackers need to beware of a $2000 spot fine.
Ministry of Defense Manager Security Viliame Wilikilagi said woodpeckers, strickers and flash bands are amongst a few firecrackers which are banned.
Officers from the Ministry of Trade are already doing rounds to ensure guidelines on the types of fireworks sold are adhered to.
Meanwhile people can use firecrackers from today only between 5pm till 10pm.
However on Diwali night people can use firecrackers till midnight.
Use of firecrackers outside these allocated times is a crime for which people can be liable for a $400 fine or face 6 months imprisonment if caught.
