Fiji's economy will grow by 1.7 percent this year, according to Asian Development Bank forecasts.
The figure is significantly lower than government forecasts, which have predicted gross domestic product to expand by more than 2 percent.
Speaking to Radio Australia ADB Pacific economist Emma Veve said the Asian Development Bank has been taking a much more conservative approach.
Fiji had predicted strong growth of over 2 percent for several years.
Veve said Fiji's economy was still recovering from the effects of the global financial crisis and three separate natural disasters last year whereby tourism is the economy's highpoint.
