Four government vehicles were impounded by police in the Southern Division yesterday as the operation into the misuse of government vehicles entered into its second phase.
The operation has begun throughout the divisions and according to Chief Operations Officer ACP Rusiate Tudravu officers have been told to monitor the movement and use of government vehicles especially after hours.
He said that this is in line with Government's intentions of clamping down on the abuse of its resources as well as efforts to stop corruption.
Tudravu said that there will be checkpoints at various strategic locations and stressed that Government departments will have to comply with the rule of having a pass to use government vehicles after working hours.
