Good news for rugby fans as the Uprising International 7s tournament will go ahead as scheduled.
The FRU and organizers resolved the pending requirements in order for FRU to sanction the tournament.
FRU Chief Executive officer Manasa Baravilala said they are pleased to resolve all outstanding matters and they would advise the New Zealand and the Australian Rugby Union.
Fijivillage earlier highlighted that FRU had not sanctioned the tournament after Baravilala revealed that even last year’s finalist the Fiji Barbarians did not receive their full share of the prize money as it has been outstanding for almost twelve months.
Uprising Resort owner Rene Munch said he is very happy with the outcome and look forward to organizing a great tournament for a sport that he is very passionate about.
Munch added that two former Digicel Fiji 7s players Metuisela Talebula and Avenisi Vasuinubu will be travelling all the way from France to play in the tournament.
The Uprising 7s which is run identical to an IRB standard tournament, in rules and regulations, will be held at Churchill Park from the 18th to 19th of this month and will feature sixteen top local and overseas teams.
