The mining sector in Fiji has the potential of earning one billion dollars a year.
This is according to Mineral Resources Assistant Director Venasio Nasara who was speaking at the seminar on investment opportunities and investor support in Suva.
Nasara said this is especially with the Namosi Copper mining which is a big mining development as it involves both copper and gold mining.
He said the feasibility report will be released by late next year.
Other mining projects include Mount Kasi which has a potential of raking in $40 million in revenue, mining of iron enriched sand along the Ba Delta, Vatukoula Gold Mining and Tuvatu prospect in Sabeto, Nadi.
