The culmination of the hard work put in by ex-students of Suva Grammar School for the week long Golden Jubilee Celebrations will be known this afternoon as the 60's to 2000 decades will be handing over money raised to the Executive committee of the Ex-students Association.
Since the planning process of the SGS Jubilee celebrations began this year, various decades have given up much of their time, resources and money to give back to the school that gave them so much.
As the main theme of the SGS celebrations is "Giving back to Grammar" the ex-students association has set up a Trust Fund that will ensure that all money raised will go towards the upgrading of school facilities and assisting the needy students.
During a special assembly yesterday, current students pleaded to the ex-students to help with the repair and maintenance of the school facilities as some are in a deplorable condition.
The plea was put forward through a "Photo-voice" project which according to Form 7 student Ilisoni Uluitoba through the photos they want to show the true picture of the state of the school facilities that they use on a daily basis.
SGS Ex-students Association President Jasmine Tam said the money collected this afternoon will be used solely for maintenance works.
She added many of the ex-students were saddened by the state of the school and have pledged to continue to help.
The fundraising drive or soli will be held from 5pm to 7pm at the school today.
