A former Turaga ni Koro of Nacereyawa village outside Labasa town charged with fraudulent conversion, who allegedly took fundraising money for his village's Rural Electrification scheme has been remanded in custody by the Labasa court.
Taitusi Tikomacuata who represented himself pleaded guilty to his charges of allegedly taking $4,350 dollars belonging to the village for his own use.
The court heard that the villages had fundraised money for their electricity which was given to the government but they later decided to go with solar power.
The money was then reimbursed to Tikomacuata who allegedly used it. The case has been adjourned to 8th of next month.
