Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu has been elected as the President of the Methodist Church of Fiji today after securing 56% of the votes.
Reverend Waqairatu got more than 480 votes.
Speaking to the members gathered at Centennary Church, Reverend Waqairatu said the church will now work together with government to move our country forward.
Reverend Waqairatu will take over the position from Reverend Ame Tugaue next year.
More than 900 members are attending the conference.
Delegations have also arrived from the US, Germany, New Zealand and Australia.
The conference continues tomorrow.
