More than 2,000 leaks along the water supply line have been found along the Suva Nausori corridor for the first six months of 2009.
Spokesperson Maika Nagalu said there are two teams which work a 24hr shift from Monday to Friday to carry out the ongoing Leak Detection Program, and the team has so far detected 2,251 leaks, along the water supply line.
Nagalu said the extent of the problem grows as most of these pipes are more than thirty years old.
Nagalu said one team usually works every street listening for any water leaks and noting them down, before handing the list to the day shift team to fix the problem.
