Chiefs stun Crusaders

The Chiefs are into their second Super Rugby final in four years after shocking the Crusaders 20-17 in the thrilling encounter.

The Chiefs will now have to wait until the early hours of tomorrow morning to find out whether it is at home or in South Africa.

The loss for the Crusaders is the first time in Super Rugby history that they have lost in Australia or New Zealand in a Semifinal.

All of the tries in the match were scored in the first half including Ryan Crotty's try for the Crusaders.

Taumalolo marked his 50th match for the Chiefs with his try in the 25th minute while Liam Messam scored in the 32nd minute, giving the Chiefs their biggest lead of 11 points at 17-6.

The Crusaders were desperate to score a try in the last minute but the home side won with 20-17.

Crusaders captain Richie McCaw said that they had been let down by their composure and blamed some crucial mistakes for their semifinal loss .

Last year Crusaders were knocked out of the title race by the Chiefs who won the New Zealand Conference and finished ahead of the men from Canterbury.

Crusaders have now not won a title since 2008 when Robbie Deans was their head coach.

Meanwhile if the Sharks beat the Stormers, then the Chiefs will be playing their finals in Hamilton.

The second semifinal, the Stormers will host the Sharks at 3.05am tomorrow.
